Pretoria- The Office of Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa on Saturday said it takes exception to statements made by energy analyst, Ted Blom, that the Deputy President had benefited improperly from Eskom coal contracts.
Blom said this during a press club briefing held in Cape Town on Friday and an article was published in Fin24.
“It is a matter of public record that the Deputy President has divested of his interest in Shanduka Group and no longer holds any mining interests,” said the Presidency.
The Presidency said Deputy President Ramaphosa undertook this divestment following his appointment as the Deputy President of the Republic to avoid any potential conflict of interest.
“It is unfortunate that Mr Blom, who presents himself as an industry analyst, would make claims that are factually incorrect.
“It is also unfortunate that Fin24 would publish these claims without seeking comment from the Office of the Deputy President,” said the Presidency.-SAnews.gov.za
