Employment Equity roadshows underway

Pretoria - The Department of Labour’s annual Employment Equity (EE) roadshows to promote compliance with EE legislation will be held this week in the Eastern Cape and Western Cape.

On Wednesday, a stakeholder briefing session will be held in Port Elizabeth at the Pine Lodge (Marine Drive) and on Thursday a session will be held at the Cape Town’s International Convention Centre (Convention Square, 1 Lower Long Street).

The 2015 EE roadshows are held under the theme “Transformation - makes business sense”.

The objectives of the roadshows are to publicise the Code of Good Practice on Equal Pay/Remuneration for Work of Equal Value, to publicise the regulated employment equity templates (EE Analysis-EEA12 & EE Plan-EEA13) and to encourage designated employers to submit EE Reports On-Line.

The EE roadshows started in Rustenburg on 13 August 2015. To date EE briefing sessions have been held in Kimberley, Polokwane, Bloemfontein and in Durban.

The last EE roadshows will be held next week in Boksburg at the Emperors Palace and in Witbank (Emalahleni) on Tuesday at the Protea Hotel in Witbank. 

Employers (companies, government departments) are by law obliged to submit their employment equity reports annually to the Department of Labour of in regard to demographic profile, representation in the organisations and EE plans to address discrimination and inequity in the workplace.

The EE reporting season opens on Tuesday for both manual and online reporting. Manual reporting submissions close on 1 October 2015, while online reporting will close on 15 January 2016. – SAnews.gov.za
