Monday, November 30, 2015

Lephalale - Communications Minister Faith Muthambi will this morning listen to the day-to-day challenges faced by residents of Ga-Seleka in Lephalale, Limpopo, to find ways to improve government services to the community.

The Minister is expected to start the day at the village with a courtesy visit to the local tribal office, then door-to-door visits before she officially launches the National Imbizo Focus Week at Ga-Seleka Community Hall.

Imbizo is a forum for enhancing dialogue and interaction between government and the people and enables Ministers, Deputy Ministers, Premiers and Members of Executive Councils (MECs) to interact closely with communities in different parts of the country.

It further provides an opportunity for government to communicate its Programme of Action (PoA) and the update on the progress made.

“As government, izimbizo help us to promote public participation on government programmes with the aim of continuously improving people’s lives.

“It also provides an opportunity for the members of the public to share concerns, grievances and offer advice on how as government we can improve our day-to-day operations in terms of rendering efficient services,” said Minister Muthambi.

She said throughout the week, Cabinet Ministers and government officials will visit communities to assess their needs, interact with people, respond to their questions on government related issue and inspect government-funded projects set up as part of efforts to combat poverty in the country.

The Minister will use today’s Imbizo to interact with beneficiaries of government’s employment creation programmes such as the solar energy farm in Lephalale.

Department of Communications entities including the SABC, ICASA, the Film and Publication Board, Brand SA and the Media Diversity Development Agency will be in attendance to inform the community of Lephalale about their service offerings.

The Minister will also provide key details on the status of the Broadcasting Digital Migration project thus far. - SAnews.gov.za
