Pretoria- President Jacob Zuma has congratulated a veteran Limpopo nurse on turning 100 years old.

The President congratulated Sebotsana Rasebotsa on her 100th birthday.

“Turning 100 years old is a historic milestone for Ms Rasebotsa, her family and the nation. As we mark National Women’s Day this weekend, we congratulate this veteran servant of the people who nursed scores of people to good health and delivered many healthy babies during her career.

She is an inspiring role model to many in the nursing profession and all professionals in the country. We wish her continued good health, joy and comfort”, President Zuma said.

Rasebotsa, who is known as Koontz Nancy to many, is the mother of businesswoman and soccer personality Ria Ledwaba.

She lives in Medingen Village in Duiwelskloof Limpopo.

Rasebotsa was born on 6 August 1915 in Middlefontein around Nylstroom. She married Nathaniel Rasebotsa who passed away in 1959. She was blessed with five children, four boys and one girl.

“She worked at Medingen Clinic without any assistance from 1951 until her retirement in 1979. All her life she had to visit the families after delivery for a scheduled 10 days to bath the baby. In her career she never had any miscarriage, caesarean or any death during delivery”, her daughter said.
