Pretoria - South Africans have today observed a moment of silence in memory of the late former President of the country, Nelson Mandela, who passed away on 5 December last year.
Three minutes before 10am this morning, South Africans were urged to ring bells and sirens to remind others of the moment of silence in honour of President Mandela.
The moment of silence lasted for three minutes, from 10:00 to 10:03, for the struggle icon, who died at the age of 95 at his Houghton home in Johannesburg a year ago.
People are also encouraged to share stories of how they remember the former President on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and other social networks, using #RememberMandela.
