The cockpit voice recorder has been on board an Indonesian navy ship bound for capital Jakarta for analysis.

The flight data recorder retrieved near the wrecked wing of the Airbus 320-200 on Monday morning has also been transported to the capital for investigation.

The AirAsia airliner carrying 162 people crashed into the Java Sea on December 28 in a flight from Indonesia's second-biggest city of Surabaya to Singapore.

The search operation, which entered 17th day on Tuesday, has been hampered by big waves and powerful currents.

By far, 48 bodies were recovered with 34 of them having been identified, while most of the undiscovered ones were believed to be entombed. - SAnews.gov.za-Xinhua
