Tuesday, August 5, 2014

Washington - President Jacob Zuma is attending the first ever US-Africa Business Forum in Washington, where several major deals are expected to be signed.

The White House said the day will focus on creating partnerships to promote trade, accelerate job growth and encourage investment across the African continent.

More than 50 CEOs from the US and Africa, including South Africa’s top business representatives, are attending the forum today, which is also a build-up to Wednesday’s US-Africa Leaders’ Summit, to be hosted by President Barack Obama.

South Africa’s business top brass at the forum include mining mogul Patrice Motsepe, Business Unity South Africa President Jabu Mabuza and Executive Chairman of Pamodzi Gold Limited, Ndaba Ntsele.

There are also other big names such as Nigeria’s Aliko Dangote, CEO of Dangote Industries, and Ajay Banga of MasterCard.

More than 40 Heads of State and 200 business executives from both sides of the Atlantic will use today’s forum to focus on US private sector engagement in Africa and strengthening trade and commercial ties between the US and Africa, said the White House. – SAnews.gov.za
