Pretoria - The Eastern Cape Provincial Government has appointed Bongani Gxilishe as its acting Director General as the contract for Sibongile Muthwa comes to an end.
Gxilishe, currently Head of the Department for Roads and Public Works, will fulfil all the DG responsibilities up until such time that a suitable has been appointed, provincial spokesperson Mzukisi Ndara said on Wednesday.
Recruitment processes to find a suitable candidate are currently underway.
Muthwa, who did not want to renew her contract, has been at the helm of provincial administration for six years and has served under former Premiers Nosimo Balindlela and Mbulelo Sogoni.
