Mbombela - Matriculants from Mpumalanga are encouraged to apply for bursaries from the provincial Department of Finance for the 2011 academic year.
The bursaries are available for people from poor backgrounds, while women and people with disabilities will also be favoured.
"We want to address the shortage of scarce skills in the department by giving matriculants the opportunity to further their studies in the finance sector," said Human Resource Officer Manesi Radebe.
Bursaries are available for applicants who live in the province and want to study information technology, financial management, internal auditing and economics.
Application forms are available from the Department of Finance in both the KwaMhlanga and Mbombela government complexes, as well as the tender board offices in Evander, Middelburg, Mammetlhake, Piet Retief, Tonga and Bushbuckridge.
All applications must be accompanied by the matriculant's mid-year exam results or final results for last year, a salary notice or affidavit from a parent and guardian and a quote for study fees from a recognised tertiary institution.
"It should also include a certified copy of the student's ID or birth certificate, as well as a provisional letter of admission from the tertiary institution," said Radebe.
The closing date for applications is 24 November.
Matriculants can call Radebe on 013 766 4336 for more information.
