Pretoria - North West MEC for Health and Social Development Rebecca Kasienyane will on Friday lead a healthy lifestyle walk as part of this year's national celebrations for Partnership Against AIDS.
The Partnership Against AIDS was first launched in 1998 to ensure a broad-based and multi-sectoral societal response, based on the recognition that no single sector, ministry, department or organisation is solely responsible for addressing the HIV epidemic.
The partnership brings together different sectors of civil society and government working to combat the disease at different levels.
The sectors include business, faith-based organisations, traditional healers, youth groups, women groups, labour, organisations of people living with AIDS and people living with disabilities.
The provincial department said the celebrations reinforce the need for building partnerships and working together to intensify the fight against HIV and AIDS.
Themed, "Stop AIDS, uphold Human Rights," the walk will start at the corner of Vandervalt and Voertrekker streets and end at the Thlabologang Sports Ground.
