Pretoria - The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) will on Tuesday issue certificates to candidates on the final list to contest the 2009 General Elections.
According to the election time table, Chief Electoral Officer Pansy Tlakula must issue a certificate stating that the person is a candidate in the forthcoming elections. This is given to each candidate on the final list of the candidates.
Last Friday, Ms Tlakula made the list of parties and final list of candidates to contest the 2009 National and Provincial Elections available pending the decision of the Electoral Court.
On Saturday, the Electoral Court upheld the appeal by the Chief Electoral Officer regarding the disqualification of certain candidates.
The Court indicated that due to the urgency of the matter reasons for its decision will be made available in due course.
