Johannesburg - The all new Joburg Easter Festival that promises to be the biggest, most entertaining and most visitor friendly event ever, kicks off on Friday.
Themed "A Great Day out - Every Day!" the new Joburg Easter Festival makes its debut this Easter holidays from 3 to 13 April, at the Johannesburg Expo Centre in Nasrec.
With over R5 million invested in the newest and most diverse entertainment line-up seen in a long time, the Joburg Easter Festival is anticipated to be the most exciting new family-oriented edition to Joburg's social calendar.
"The festival is expected to feature top South African musicians, comedians, dance acts, circus performers, an award-winning Bollywood stage production and children's theatre as just some of the many highlights on the schedule," the City of Joburg said.
It will include a number of edutainment activities that will keep the entire family occupied, including daily lunch hour shows by the Johannesburg ZOO and Joburg Water, and children will be entertained by three onsite mascots.
"Five Easter hampers will be won daily as well as give-aways from the eleven city of Johannesburg departments who will be exhibiting at the festival," the city said.
Zoo exhibit visitors will each be presented with a free set of double tickets to visit the Joburg Zoo. Visitors can also enter a daily competition at the show by sending an SMS with the word Joburg to 34970.
According to the city, people with Bluetooth enabled cell phones should activate their Bluetooth while at the festival and then look-out for the automatic text message inviting them to the city stalls for prizes.
Gates will be opened from 10am to 8pm on weekdays, and 9am to 8pm on weekends. The entrance fee for adults is R70 and R40 for children under the age of 12. Children under six will enter free.
