Pretoria- The deep rural village of Mamvuka in the Makhado Municipality in Limpopo was hit by a strong hail storm on Sunday, which left 17 households without roofs over their heads.

Makhado Municipal spokesperson, Louis Bobodi, told BuaNews that although the thunderstorm rattled buildings, no injuries were sustained.

"We have dispatched a team from our disaster management unit to assess the damage at the village and they have since informed us that out of the 26 affected households, 17 need temporary shelter.

"We are in the process of roping in both the Vhembe district municipality and provincial Local Government Department to respond promptly in assisting the affected villagers," he said.

Bobodi said since they did not have enough tents for the destitute residents, more resources such as tents, food parcels and blankets would be mobilised through the management resource centre.
