Pretoria - The National Lotteries Board (NLB) will kick off a series of nine provincial consultations in the build-up to a national conference to explore the future of National Lottery Distribution Trust Fund (NLDTF) funding.

"In a first of its kind for the NLB, this series of meetings will afford all interested and relevant stakeholders an opportunity to comment on the process and help determine the most appropriate strategic and operational funding model for the NLDTF," said NLB spokesperson Sershan Naidoo.

The consultations aim to bring together representatives of the sectors which receive NLDTF funding, including various governmental and regulatory bodies and civil society.

Naidoo said the objective of holding the provincial consultations was to better understand and document the concerns of beneficiaries and other stakeholders and use this as input for the discussions to be held during the national conference, which will be held next month in Gauteng.

The conference will officially be opened by Minister of Trade and Industry Rob Davies.

The meetings are scheduled to start from 6 - 10 June, and will be held in Pretoria on 6 June, Cape Town 8 June and Durban 10 June.
