Pretoria - Five newly appointed MECs in the Eastern Cape are to be sworn in today by provincial Judge President Themba Sangoni.
This follows the reshuffling of the provincial Executive Council by Premier Noxolo Kiviet on Saturday.
The swearing in will be held in the Port Elizabeth High Court at noon.
The newly appointed MECs are:
ú Tandiswa Marawu - Public Works, Roads and Transport
ú Helen August-Sauls - Human Settlements, Safety and Liaison
ú Mandla Makupula - Education and Training
ú Mlibo Qhoboshiyane - Local Government and Traditional Affairs
ú Zoleka Capa - Rural Development and Agrarian Reform
Announcing the reshuffling at the weekend, Kiviet said government had been seized with the task of improving the quality of services rendered to communities over the last 18 months,
This had resulted in government realigning its self to national efforts. She said the posture of some ministries had to be revisited to enhance service delivery.
"We have identified gaps within the service delivery chain which requires prompt intervention. In light of this, a decisive intervention is necessary to strengthen our leadership of the administrative corps. This task cannot be postponed any longer," said the Premier.
