Pretoria - The search for two residents, who went missing after their shack was washed away in floods, continues in Phomolong, Ekurhuleni.
The missing pair, a woman and her six-month old baby boy, disappeared last night after the area was hit by another wave of flooding.
By 1pm today, the Metro's Emergency Services officials sifted through the rubble and scanned the nearby river without any luck.
A storm, accompanied by lightning and strong winds hit parts of Gauteng on Monday night, leaving many roads and some homes flooded.
Ekurhuleni officials say they are working round the clock to find alternative shelter for the other 200 displaced families.
"We will have to evacuate the affected residents from this area, and our team is working hard to find alternative accommodation, where we will not only accommodate them, but also provide them with blankets and food," said metro spokesperson Zweli Dlamini.
Last week, the metro embarked on a rescue and evacuation campaign in the areas of Palm Ridge and Beach Front, Wattville. A total of about 350 people had to be removed from these flooded areas.
