Pretoria - The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality has warned motorists and residents who regularly make use of the Barbara Road Bridge over the N12 highway, that it will be closed until next year.
The bridge will be closed from 8 November until 12 January to allow contract workers to carry out work on the bridge.
The municipality apologised for the inconvenience the bridge closure will cause.
"We wish to assure motorists that while the closure of the bridge will certainly cause disruptions and delays, it is essential for the upgrading of the N12 highway, which will in turn lead to a better flow of traffic due to increased capacity," said municipal spokesperson, Zweli Dlamini.
