Pretoria - Fresh from his three-day visit to China, President Zuma is to attend the funeral of the late political veteran and former deputy minister of Safety and Security Joe Matthews on Saturday.
The Presidency confirmed that Matthews will be afforded a provincial official funeral "in recognition of his outstanding service to the province of the Western Cape and the people of South Africa".
Matthews, a former member of both the ANC and IFP died at the age of 81 in a Johannesburg clinic on 19 August after succumbing to an illness.
He was the son of legendary ANC leader ZK Matthews and was also father to the current Science and Technology Minister Naledi Pandor.
