Pretoria - Deepening regional cooperation and tackling poverty are among the issues expected to be discussed when some of the continent's ministers meet next week in Ethiopia for the 16th ordinary session of the African Union Executive Council.
International Relations and Cooperation Minister Maite Nkoana Mashabane will lead the South African delegation to the meeting to take place ahead of the African Union summit later this month.
Nkoana Mashabane's department said in a statement on Sunday that South Africa participates in the discussions within the context of consolidating the "African agenda" that sought to promote peace and security on the continent.
The delegates are also expected to deliberate on and adopt several reports including a report of the 2nd AU Conference of Ministers responsible for Maritime Transport.
