Pretoria - The National Youth Development Agency (NYDA) on Tuesday announced a R10 000 cash donation to help two underprivileged schools in KwaZulu-Natal.
The agency's chairperson, Andile Lungisa, will hand over the money to Ngugwini High School and A. Moolla High School both situated in Ndwedwe during a visit on Wednesday.
NYDA spokesperson Siyabonga Magadla said the visit is part of the agency's ongoing "2010 Back to School" campaign aimed at encouraging learners to go back to school and take their education seriously.
"The NYDA has undertaken to use its mandate to lobby government to create an enabling studying environment for all learners in schools across South Africa to ensure they perform to their maximum. In return we expect learners do their best," he said.
Despite the drop in the overall national matric results, KwaZulu-Natal was the only province which achieved improved results.
Lungisa described the improvement as a demonstration that learners can perform better.
