Mokgalwaneng - Rural Development and Land Reform Minister, Gugile Nkwinti, will on Friday visit the Mokgalwaneng informal settlement and nearby villages to inspect the progress of the Comprehensive Rural Development Programme (CRDP) being piloted there.
The purpose of his visit is to get first-hand feedback from the members of the community regarding the progress made in the implementation of the CRDP.
The CRDP was launched by government to create sustainable communities characterised by social cohesion. The department has anchored the delivery of the programme on agrarian transformation, rural development and land reform.
Nkwinti is expected to interact with the communities at household level to ensure that the plans being implemented are in line with their needs. He will also give feedback to the community from the department's assessment of the project.
The minister will visit a number of households identified for social intervention, renovated schools, a clinic which is now operating 24 hours a day, the recently built low cost houses as well as livestock handling facilities and fire-belts.
These projects are in different villages of Mokgalwaneng, Disake and Matlaametlo.
After visiting households and projects, the minister, together with the North West Premier Maureen Modiselle and MEC for Agriculture, Conservation, Environment and Rural Development Boitumelo Tshwene, will proceed to Mochudi Middle School sports ground to have a meeting with Mokgalwaneng community.
He is expected to hand over an ambulance, bicycles for scholars and agricultural starter packs to identified beneficiaries.
