Johannesburg - Public Protector Advocate Thulisile Madonsela has urged communities to report poor service delivery to her office instead of embarking on protests.
"We would prefer that affected communities approach the Public Protector with their service delivery complaints rather than embarking on violent protests that result in the destruction of the very infrastructure we need for the development of our communities," said Madonsela.
She urged communities to work with her office in exposing issues that needed attention.
"As the Public Protector we are committed to ensuring that public authorities are accountable, operate with integrity and are responsive to the needs of all," she said in Alexandra, Joburg, on Wednesday.
Madonsela, who succeeded Advocate Lawrence Mushwana in October, commended the media for the positive role it had played in exposing issues that needs attention.
