Pretoria - Deputy Minister of Human Settlements Zou Kota-Fredericks has been transferred from George to a hospital in Cape Town for further treatment to injuries sustained in a car crash last month.
Kota-Fredericks was on Friday flown in one of Human Settlements Minister Tokyo Sexwale's private jets, a Challenger 300, which picked her up in George.
The Deputy Minister had indicated that she was still in great pain and would not be happy with a four-hour journey by road from George to Cape Town.
She would then be flown to Cape Town International Airport and admitted to the Chris Barnard Hospital, where she would undergo further treatment, a period of recuperation and rest.
Kota-Fredericks had also indicated that she would like to be close to her family and friends during the festive season, so doctors agreed that she should be moved closer to her home in Cape Town.
The Human Settlements Department on Friday indicated that both her family and friends had been extremely supportive and helpful in keeping her in good spirits during the days she spent in hospital.
Sexwale, the department said, also felt that his deputy should be taken closer to her home.
"The Human Settlements Ministry greatly appreciates the care shown by doctors at George Medi-Clinic, who have done an outstanding job," said the department.
