Pretoria - Police have confirmed that no explosives were found in both the Johannesburg Magistrates Court and the South Gauteng High Court, after a bomb scare earlier today.
Both courts were evacuated this morning by security agencies after threats were made that there was a bomb in the building.
"Our colleagues from the explosives and dog unit did not find anything," Superintendent Lungelo Dlamini told BuaNews.
She said someone had called a local radio station claiming there was a bomb at the two courts. The anonymous caller also phoned the court's switchboard.
As a result, Superintendent Dlamini said the court proceedings were disrupted at 11.30am when security officials instructed everyone to vacate the court building. "Police are now trying to trace the caller," she said.
Court proceedings resumed at 2pm.
