ANC makes clean sweep in KZN

KwaZulu-Natal - Unlike previous elections where the African National Congress (ANC) had to go into coalitions to rule the KwaZulu-Natal legislature, this time around, the party has showed its dominance in a previously Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) strong-hold.

The ruling party has comfortably won the province with 51 seats which is 64 percent and the main opposition the IFP lagged with just 18 seats which was 22 percent of the votes.

Amichand Rajbansi's Minority Front, with a predominately Indian support, managed to claim 2 seats to have their say in the provincial legislature.

Major role players like DA and Cope got 7 and 1 seat respectively.

The ANC rules in 8 of the 9 provinces except in the Western Cape.
