Pretoria - Electoral officer in KwaZulu-Natal Mawethu Mosery says stations in the province that were unable to open at 7am this morning are now opening gradually.
Some stations in the province, especially those in the Drakensburg area, were affected by heavy overnight rains.
Rain has now subsided in some parts of the province.
According to the SA Weather Service, the weather conditions in most parts of the country are cool and partly cloudy this morning, but are expected to warm up and clear later on.
Rains are however still forecast for the Eastern Cape and KwaZulu-Natal.
In KwaZulu-Natal, it is expected that in the morning there would be some rain in the east and isolated thundershowers in the south-west. The wind along the coast will be a light south-easterly to easterly at first, otherwise moderate to fresh north-easterly.
Deputy Chief Electoral Officer of the IEC, Mosotho Moepya said this morning that most polling stations had opened around the country at 7am, with the exception of 64 due to weather challenges.
