Johannesburg - Despite losing 1-nil to Brazil in the FIFA Confederations Cup semifinal last night, Bafana Bafana fans had nothing but praise for the impressive national team.
Disappointed as they may have been, supporters gave the team the thumbs up for the commitment shown against the five-time world champions Brazil.
"I think it was a very brilliant and entertaining side. Both teams played very well but in the end there must be one winner," said a passionate Bafana supporter, Cynthia Nkomo from Zimbabwe.
She told BuaNews their performance throughout the match was amazing, adding that they played against one of the best teams.
However, some had sharp criticism for Captain Aaron Mokoena, who committed the foul in front of the goals, giving Brazil a last minute lead.
"The team played very well and we can't blame everyone for the mistake done by one person," said one supporter.
"Mokoena is an experienced player. But what he did was unnecessary; he should know better," said one fan who identified himself as only Papi.
He added: "What's done is done, the mistake has been committed. We now need to focus on building this team because it's a very formidable team".
The game was heading for extra time until Daniel Alves's free kick in the 88th minute.
With President Jacob Zuma watching and more than 48 000 fans cheering, Bafana Bafana had all the support they needed.
Bafana will now face Spain in the 3rd and 4th place play-offs in Rustenburg on Sunday before the final clash between Brazil and USA.
Judging by the buoyant mood at Ellis Park Stadium last night, fans are expected to come in their numbers to support the national team in its search for the 3rd spot.
