Departments commended

Pretoria - Government has commended all its departments for proactively organising and implementing pre-Budget Vote communications to key stakeholders, including communities and members of the media.

These included media briefings, meetings with key stakeholders, direct engagements with members of the public and exhibitions.

“This information-sharing process enables government to articulate key programmes for the coming year and demonstrates government’s commitment to serving the needs of the South African public through concrete and measurable objectives,” said Acting Government Communication and Information System (GCIS) CEO Phumla Williams.

The departments had notably aligned the budget votes to the National Development Plan, which seeks to eliminate poverty and reduce inequality by 2030.

Added Williams: “The relationship between government and citizens is very important. Ultimately, government is accountable to citizens for decisions taken at all spheres of government.
