Pretoria - President Jacob Zuma has conveyed his condolences to the family and friends of former Deputy Minister of Social Development, Dr Jean Swanson-Jacobs.
"She was very driven. She took the task especially of fighting against drugs and substance abuse to her heart. On behalf of government and the country, we wish to convey our deepest words of condolence to her family and friends. May her soul rest in peace," said Zuma in a statement.
Dr Swanson-Jacobs served as Social Development Deputy Minister until 2009.
She was admitted to a Cape Town hospital on 3 July. She was described as seriously ill by the Presidency at the time. She passed away on Sunday after a long illness. – SAnews.gov.za
