Pretoria - Global financial challenges are expected to top the agenda of a G20 ministerial meeting, in which South Africa will participate.
International Relations and Cooperation Minister Maite Nkoana-Mashabane will attend the G20 Informal Meeting of Foreign Ministers on Global Governance that takes place 19-20 February in Los Cabos, Mexico.
According to the department, the Informal Meeting of Foreign Ministers, to be held under the Mexican Presidency of the G20, will draw on the experience of the ministers and look at how G20 member countries can contribute more effectively to addressing key challenges in global governance and help bring about the necessary leadership to revitalise multilateralism.
It is expected that the G20 Informal Meeting will include interactive sessions where foreign ministers will exchange views on multilateralism, global governance, as well as globalisation and its impact on sustainable and social development.
Other issues to be discussed include breaking the deadlocks in the multilateral system, addressing current global challenges in an effective manner, building common understandings on green growth and sustainable development and building Global Governance responses for human development.
