Pretoria - President Jacob Zuma has appointed five members to the Media Development and Diversity Agency (MDDA) board, his office announced on Monday.
Jimmy Manyi, Phenyo Nonqane, Rene Alicia Smith, Ingrid Louw and Thato Mahapa will serve new board members for a term of three years.
"We wish the new members well in the execution of their new duties. They have a lot of challenges ahead as they seek to build a diverse media environment that is a true reflection of all South Africans," said President Zuma.
Set up by an Act of Parliament, the MDDA is tasked with enabling historically disadvantaged communities and persons not adequately served by the media to gain access to the media.
