Pretoria – The African National Congress is still leading with over two million votes as election results continued to come in at the IEC results centre in Pretoria.

Just after 7am, the results board displayed 2 428 votes for the ANC followed by the DA at 1 144. New entrants, the Economic Freedom Fighters were trailing at third spot with just over 173 000 votes.

The Congress of the People, which impressed many when it got over 1.3 million votes in its first election in 2009, is not doing as well in this election. COPE had just 34 000 votes, behind new comers the National Freedom Party which currently has over 60 000 votes.

The ANC is also leading in the Eastern Cape with over half a million votes. - SAnews.gov.za
