Pretoria – North West Local Government and Human Settlements MEC Collen Maine has welcomed the judgment handed down in the Labour Court against suspended Municipal Manager of the City of Matlosana, Elie Tsietsi Motsemme.
The Labour Court on Friday dismissed Motsemme’s court application to overturn his suspension.
He was put on precautionary suspension on 23 February, after failing to indicate why he should not be suspended following allegations of fraud and corruption were levelled against him.
“I wish to put it on record that as the Provincial Government, led by Premier Supra Mahumapelo, we do not have any room for fraud and corruption in our municipalities … the Municipal Manager has to be given an opportunity to come forward to clear his name and answer to allegations of maladministration which have been going on for some time in the municipality.
“In the event that it becomes evident that he has put his hands in the public purse, harsh action must be taken against him" Maine said. – SAnews.gov.za
