Pretoria - Members of Parliament on Tuesday paid tribute to the late Minister of Public Service and Administration, Collins Chabane, saying that he will be sorely missed.

The United Democratic Movement’s Bantu Holomisa said he had the opportunity in the 90s to sit in meetings with him and described him as an officer and a gentleman.

“Our souls are deeply saddened by his passing but as painful as it is, this is not a time to cry but to celebrate a well lived life,” said Holomisa.

Freedom Front Plus’ leader Pieter Mulder said Minister Chabane, who passed away in a car crash along the N1 in Limpopo on Sunday, was as a pleasant and likeable person, who had a sense of humour and a love of music.

COPE’s Willie Madisha said the late Minister was humble and ethical. “We are distraught,” he said.

The African Christian Democratic Party’s Kenneth Meshoe said:  “The nation has lost a caring and remarkable man.”

Meshoe added that “life is too short. Time is not on our side”.
