Pretoria - The KwaZulu-Natal government will this morning lead a peace march against attacks on foreign nationals.
Led by Premier Senzo Mchunu and eThekwini Metro Mayor James Nxumalo, the march will also be joined by foreign nationals, religious groups, non-government organisations and civil society, proceeding from Curries Fountain to the City Hall.
The march comes amid attacks against foreign nationals and their businesses in various parts of the province.
Six people, including a 14-year-old boy, were killed in the attacks which flared up in several parts of KZN, including KwaMashu and Umlazi over the past two weeks.
Police have arrested 74 people for offenses including murder, public violence, business robbery, theft and possession of firearms and ammunition.
Efforts are also underway to start a dialogue on the reintegration of displaced people. – SAnews.gov.za
