Pretoria - President Jacob Zuma has declared a special official funeral for the late struggle stalwart, Ruth Mompati.
This category of funeral is designated by the President of the Republic of South Africa for distinguished persons, according to the Presidency.
This means that all national flags at all flag stations in the country will be flown at half-mast from today until the day of the funeral.
The Isithwalandwe/Seaparankoe of the African National Congress (ANC) stalwart died in a Cape Town hospital on Tuesday.
She was a gallant freedom fighter and a struggle stalwart who worked tirelessly for the freedom of the people of South Africa from an early age.
Government is still in discussion with the family regarding the date of the funeral.
