Comrade Ruth Mompati was born in a small village of Tlapeng not far from Vryburg, on 14 September 1925. Mme Ruth Segomotsi Mompati passed on in the early hours of Tuesday, 12 May 2015, at a Military Hospital in Cape Town. Mme Ruth Segomotsi Mompati was one of that special generation, a towering cadre whose life and conduct remained true to the values of our movement, the ANC until her last day.
Funeral
The Special Official Funeral of the veteran and icon of the liberation struggle, Mme Ruth Mompati will take place on the 23rd May 2015 at the Vryburg Showgrounds, Vryburg, North West.
President Jacob Zuma will deliver the eulogy.
All National Flags at all flag stations in the country will be flown at half-mast from 13 May 2015 until the day of the funeral.
