Pretoria - The system for assessing the performance of Heads of Department of national and provincial departments has been amended, says Minister in the Presidency Responsible for Performance Monitoring and Evaluation Collins Chabane.
He said on Friday that Cabinet had at its ordinary meeting this week approved the amendments.
"These amendments include a stronger role for the Presidency and the Offices of the Premier in the assessment process. The aim is to ensure that all Heads of Department enter into performance agreements timeously and that all Heads of Departments are assessed every year," he said.
The evaluation will be directly linked to the performance of the department with regard to among others the auditor-general's report; the fulfilment of performance agreements commitments and Management Practice Assessment Tool (MPAT).
