Tuesday, April 26, 2016

Pretoria - The South African National Defence Force (SANDF) has announced the two names of its members who went missing at sea.

Sergeant Mcedisi Rudolf Mandyu (48) and Private Themba Nelson Sithole (27) were off-duty and swimming at Second Beach Port St Johns on April 16. It is believed they got into trouble when sea conditions changed drastically.

Mandyu lives in Worcester and works at SA Army Infantry School in Oudtshoorn. Sithole is from Rustenburg and works at 1 Para Battalion in Bloemfontein.

SANDF spokesperson Brigadier General Xolani Mabanga on Monday said the members had not yet been located and were still declared missing at sea.

The search and rescue mission is still active. The family members have been informed and have visited the scene of the incident. – SAnews.gov.za
