Monday, July 4, 2011

Pretoria - Social Development Minister Bathabile Dlamini is expected to announce a plan to address the plight of child headed households during the 18th Biennial Conference of the National Association for Child Care Workers (NACCW).

The NACCW conference, to be held on Tuesday at the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University in Port Elizabeth, will discuss a variety of issues with the view to create an environment of care, support and protection for orphans and vulnerable children in line with the Children's Act.

The conference follows last week's meeting held in East London, where Dlamini and MECs for Social Development discussed plans on how the department will roll-out this initiative, including details on when will recruitment for trainees commence.

Eastern Cape MEC for Social Development and Special Programs, Dr Pemmy Majodina, will also attend the conference.
