Late minister to be laid to rest

Durban - Members of the public and delegates have begun arriving to the Sahara Kingsmead Stadium in Durban, where the Official Funeral for the late Minister for Public Service and Administration, Roy Padayachie, is expected to get underway later this morning.

The funeral service will start at 11am. President Jacob Zuma is expected to deliver a eulogy at the service.

Members of the public, ministers, deputy ministers, KwaZulu-Natal Premier Zweli Mkhize, members of the executive council, foreign dignitaries and members of the Diplomatic Corps have been invited to join the minister's family and friends in paying their last respects.

Padayachie passed away in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, on Friday, while attending the African Peer Review Mechanism meeting. He was 62-years-old.

The Official Funeral will be followed by a service at the Clare Estate Crematorium where the body of Padayachie will be cremated.

Across the country, all national flags have been flying at half-mast at all flag stations.

Condolence books for members of the public have been placed at the Union Buildings in Pretoria and at Tuynhuys in Cape Town.
