Johannesburg - Dignitaries continued to stream in on Friday morning at the home of the late struggle stalwart Albertina Sisulu, who died last night at the age of 92.
Those who have arrived at the Sisulu home in Linden, north of Johannesburg, include Gauteng Premier Nomvula Mokonyane, Minister in the Presidency Collins Chabane and struggle veteran Vali Moosa.
Journalists and photographers are camping outside the house and all streets leading to the home have been closed off to traffic.
Moosa described Sisulu as someone who was strong and courageous. "She was a very recognized public figure during the dark days of the apartheid system and her contribution will always be remembered," said Moosa.
A mother to Defence Minister Lindiwe Sisulu and parliamentary speaker Max Sisulu, she was one of the last of a generation of leaders recognized for their contribution to South Africa's struggle history.
Her husband, Walter Sisulu, who died in 2003, spent 25 years in Robben Island alongside Nelson Mandela. The family is expected to issue a statement later in the day.
