Home Affairs welcomes court ruling on Chinese national

Pretoria - The Department of Home Affairs has welcomed a High Court judgment that found a Chinese national was in possession of a fraudulent permit and should be deported.

The ruling should serve as a warning to those who are living in South Africa illegally, the department said.

"The judgment communicates an unequivocal message to all those who harbor the intention of staying illegally in South Africa through fake and/or fraudulently acquired documents that the government will leave no stone unturned in ensuring they face the full might of the law and will indeed be subjects of deportation," the department added.

The court ruling comes after Bin Chen approached the South Gauteng High Court to challenge his impending deportation by the department.

Home Affairs argued that Bin was in possession of a fake permit and that he should be deported.

In its judgment, the court found that Bin's papers were "manifestly fake."

The department is currently arranging for Bin to be deported, in line with the court order.
