Pretoria - South African National Aids Council (SANAC) head, Nono Simelela, has been appointed an adviser to Deputy President Kgalema Motlanthe on HIV and Aids, TB and other health matters.
In a statement announcing her appointment, the Presidency said Simelela's responsibilities will include liaising with all stakeholders involved in the national efforts to combat HIV and Aids.
She will also advise the Deputy President on all matters concerning SANAC and other government health programmes.
"Her immediate task will be to coordinate and oversee the writing of the National Strategic Plan (NSP) on HIV and Aids, as the current strategy is expiring this year," the Presidency said.
