President Cyril Ramaphosa is expected to lead the second District Development Model (DDM) Presidential Imbizo under the Government of National Unity (GNU), in Umgababa, in KwaZulu-Natal.
The imbizo that is scheduled for Friday, 8 November, will be held at the Umnini Sportsfield in Ward 98.
“Cabinet calls on residents of Umgababa and surrounding areas to join the imbizo and engage their public representatives on solutions to challenges in their community and find ways to improve service delivery,” said Cabinet in a statement on Thursday.
Cabinet adopted the DDM in August 2019.
The DDM is an integrated planning model for cooperative governance which seeks to be a new integrated, district-based, service delivery approach aimed at fast-tracking service delivery. It also seeks to ensure that municipalities are adequately supported and resourced to carry out their mandate.
The first Presidential Imbizo of the seventh administration was held in Tsakane in Gauteng in August.
The Presidential Imbizo is where leaders from all three spheres of government interact with residents on service delivery challenges, which communities have brought to government’s attention, as well as plans for the development of this district.
