Pretoria - Business Unity South Africa (BUSA) has congratulated Brain Molefe on his appointment to head Transnet.
"BUSA believes that Mr Molefe's appointment comes at a crucial time for business, in light of the current transportation bottlenecks facing the economy, and is confident that his knowledge and expertise will undoubtedly strengthen the leadership of Transnet at an important juncture," BUSA spokesperson Masego Lehihi said on Thursday.
Molefe is a past BUSA president, whose new position as the parastatal's group chief executive was announced by Public Enterprises Minister Malusi Gigaba on Wednesday.
Molefe has held various directorships, including that of being the executive director at Telkom SA Limited from 2008 to 2010 and that of the Airports Company South Africa from 2006 to 2007. He was also the Deputy Director General of asset liability management at National Treasury from 2001 to 2003.
Molefe, who holds a Masters in Business Leadership and Bachelor of Commerce degree, has also worked for two years in the office of the premier in the Limpopo, where he was responsible for strategic planning.
"BUSA is eager to schedule a meeting with Mr. Molefe in the near future and looks forward to engaging with him in his new role," said Lehihi.
