The programme aims to improve the municipalities’ basic infrastructure and also focus on monitoring and enforcing consumer compliance, while promoting the delivery of essential services in a coordinated and collaborative manner.
“Moreover, the programme aims to provide the communities with an opportunity to engage with the provincial leadership on service delivery issues,” the provincial government said in a statement.
Several service delivery activities will take place at the launch, and these include the official handover of the Kosh Honey Bee project to subsistence farmers in Wildebeespan.
Three RDP houses will also be handed over in Kanana, while 10 title deeds will be presented to the beneficiaries in Khuma.
To support local communities with an interest in poultry production, government will distribute layer chickens to 13 military veterans who will each receive 50.
The provincial government said additional services will include road maintenance, distribution of food parcels to identified destitute families, agricultural support packages for households in Khuma and Vaal Reefs, and sanitary towels for identified schools in Khuma.
The officials will also help with the registration of indigents and updating of local business details on the Central Supplier Database (CSD) and online application for identity documents (IDs) and social support services.
“As a constant and critical feature of this service delivery programme, a platform will be created for Premier Mokgosi, MECs, and the Executive Mayors to engage with the community on progress registered in implementing various service delivery projects and programmes in their municipality.
“This community feedback session will be held after the leadership visits various service delivery sites,” the provincial government said. – SAnews.gov.za
