Dr Kenneth Kaunda District in North West concerned about low turnout for infant immunisations

The North West Department of Health in the Dr Kenneth Kaunda District has expressed concern over the low immunisation rates of babies aged zero to 12 months, especially in light of recent measles and rubella outbreaks.

District Health Services’ Chief Director, Philemon Maboe, said parents need to note that immunisations are crucial for the overall health and development of their babies.

“Immunisation helps strengthen the baby’s immune system against different diseases, and illnesses and fights against germs that could potentially harm the baby’s health and development,” he explained.

Parents and guardians are encouraged to visit their nearest health facility to ensure their babies receive all necessary vaccinations. – SAnews.gov.za
