DPME received report from KZN

Pretoria - The Department for Performance Monitoring and Evaluation (DPME) says it has received KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) province's annual assessment of the quality of management report.

In its presentation of the results to Parliament's Portfolio Committee on Public Service and Administration, the department indicated that KZN did not submit its report to DPME.

"For the 2011/12 financial year, 103 out of 155 national and provincial departments submitted their self-assessment results to DPME in time for them to be included in the overall report which was presented to Cabinet in June 2012. The final date for the submission of the self-assessments was 15 February 2012.

"The KZN province only launched the Management Performance Assessment Tool (MPAT) within the Province on 9 March 2012. DPME received the self-assessment results from the KZN province in June 2012. Therefore, the report has been received, however could not form part of the overall report," DPME explained.

The department, together with the Office of the Premier, was carrying out annual assessments of the quality of management practices in national and provincial departments. The process consists of self-assessments by departments, followed by moderation.

The presentation to Parliament on Wednesday covered the Mid-Term Review, the Management Performance Assessment Tool assessment results, and the results of the department's frontline service delivery monitoring programme, it added.
