Pretoria - The Free State Education Department has urged learners who have registered for supplementary examinations to attend free classes offered to help them improve their results.
The classes, which will only be offered to learners registered for supplementary exams, started on 5 February and will be run until 6 March 2011 on Saturdays and Sundays.
Department spokesperson Howard Ndaba said the purpose of the extra classes is to focus on the techniques and skills to answer typical exam questions, to revise key content areas of the curriculum and focus on exam writing and management skills.
"It is imperative to have classes that will support class of 2010 learners who did not do well in their examination, these efforts will support and motivate supplementary candidates to successful improve their results and get a pass," said Ndaba.
The classes, to be held in various identified centres across the province, will be offered on subjects including Accounting, Business Studies, Life Science, Mathematics, Physical Science and Geography.
Supplementary exams will start on 14 February to 24 March 2011.
